MHAROA is offering qualified charities grants of $500 to $1,000 to help improve their fundraising capacity. A $10,000 grant fund has been established for our 2009/2010 fiscal year.
We want to help your organization improve its ability to raise funds. We do NOT want to fund general operations, staff salaries or programmatic expenses.
Grant funds may be applied to relevant fundraising training expenses incurred between July 1, 2009 and May 31, 2010.
Funding requests may be submitted any time until June 1, 2010. If the grant fund has been depleted prior to June 1, 2010, additional funds will not be available until the MHAROA board approves further funding for this capacity building initiative.
Eligible ProjectsYou may send staff or volunteers to an off-site training focused on fundraising skills and mechanics or bring consultants on-site to train in these areas. Our grants may be applied to travel and registration expenses or the costs of fundraising consultants.
Funding RequirementsDemonstrate 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. Email or fax your IRS determination letter to us. If you are a MHAROA member we have this already so there is no need to send it.
Have an annual operating budget below $4 million. Email or fax to us page 1 of your most recent IRS Form 990. If you are a MHAROA member we have this already so there is no need to send it.
Send us your mission statement demonstrating your work in the mental health, addiction or intellectual disability field AND provide a 200 to 500 word description of how you have used or will use your funds to increase your organization's fundraising capacity through a training program. Simply email this information to us. Please tell us:
Who was/will be trained - names and titles;
The title of the training program and the organization or individual providing the training; and
The date(s) and location of the training program.
Tell us the amount of your request, up to $1,000, to cover or partially offset the training costs. Only one request per organization will be considered in a given fiscal year.
Approved requests will be paid upon receipt of documentation of the relevant expenses. Simply Email or fax the invoice reflecting the training expenses. The expenses can be greater than the grant request. For example, a $3,000 training program can receive a $500 to $1,000 reimbursement grant from MHAROA.
